A "Virtual World" Exhibition of the World's Foremost 20th Century Watercolour Botanical Artist.
A selection of Barbara Everard paintings from the Library, Art and Archives at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew were scanned, printed and mounted and, under a special licence, shown at the Barbara Everard Exhibition at the RHS Lindley Hall, in March 2011.
Many of these plants are of endangered species and were painted from specimens growing in the wild on places like Fraser's Hill or rubber etsates or at plant centres in Malaya during the 1950's. Enlarging these digital images will reveal notes made by the artist about the plants.
The paintings are among 250 originals and sketches donated by the artist to the Royal Botanic Gardens, who own the copyrights.
